We are excited to announce that Esi Asare Prah, Advocacy and Donor Relations Manager at MSI Reproductive Choices Ghana, has been awarded a Youth Trailblazer Award for helping young adolescents in Ghana to access vital sexual and reproductive health education. The award aims to amplify and highlight the voices of young leaders in the family planning and sexual and reproductive health and rights field and is given to those who have made a significant difference to young people’s lives.

Esi said:

“It is truly exciting to be selected as 1 of 50 global youth trailblazers in family planning. Not only is this a sign of recognition for efforts towards advancing access to family planning for young people, but an incredible opportunity to share lessons and learn from others.”

She added:

“Access to family planning services for many young people is limited by many socio-cultural dynamics that hinder access to information on SRHR services. In this decade of action, as we accelerate efforts towards achieving the sustainable development goals by 2030, if we are to truly leave no one behind, we must prioritise removing access barriers to services.”

In further recognition of Esi’s achievements, she has been invited to attend the 2022 International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) in Pattaya, Thailand in November. Esi will actively participate in planning activities for the conference and will have a speaking role in raising awareness of the importance of youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health services.

“I look forward to representing MSI Ghana in Thailand and to playing a role in improving access to life-saving family planning services for women and girls. I look forward to contributing to this global discourse with lessons from Ghana.”
