Youth for Health social inclusion and disability consultant

MSI is seeking an expert consultant in gender, equality and social inclusion (GESI) to provide technical guidance to its country programmes and partners as they strive to better understand and address the barriers to more inclusive sexual reproductive health (SRH) services, particularly the barriers faced by persons with disabilities.

The consultant’s work will contribute to the successful delivery of the Youth for Health (Y4H) project – a three-year project funded by the European Union that focuses on expanding access to adolescent sexual and reproductive healthcare and rights (ASRHR) in sub-Saharan Africa.

The consultant will review existing literature, tools and resources, including those developed under the Women’s Integrated Sexual Health (WISH) programme funded by the UK government, and refine them where necessary. Engaging with country programmes and partners, they will develop a technical support plan focused on increasing demand for, and access to, SRH services for people with disabilities and meeting the Y4H programme deliverables. Together with the Head of Y4H and members of MSI’s technical support department, the consultant will identify and implement priority components of the support plan.

The consultant will be contracted for a maximum of 40 days between January and July 2023.

MHeath consultant for the landscaping and benchmarking of Community Connect

Since 2018, MSI Reproductive Choices has implemented a mobile health (mHealth) project in the Sahel, with funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The funding will conclude at the end of June 2023.

The project adopted the Dimagi mobile data collection platform CommCare to equip Community-Based Workers (CBWs) with a job aide app for conducting pre-counselling, documenting demand generation activities, making referrals and tracking the outcome of referrals.

The app, which is known as Community Connect, includes a library of resources for CBWs including short, animated videos on methods of contraception, menstruation and pregnancy, and guidance for pre-counselling. Dashboards generated by PowerBI are used to improve evidence-based decision-making, supervision and performance management.

As the project draws to a close, MSI must determine whether and in which settings Community Connect should be stopped, sustained, adapted and/or scaled. To do so, MSI would like the help of a consultant to situate Community Connect within the wider ecosystem.

The consultant will be contracted for 20-25 days between now and the end of May 2023.

If you are interested in the consultancy, please send an email with your CV to Chris Hildebrand at: christopher.hildebrand@msichoices.org by the 28th February 2023.
