This US policy is attacking abortion and LGBTQI+ rights worldwide.

The ‘global gag rule’ blocks US government funding for organisations around the world that provide or even speak about abortion.

And now it has been expanded by the Trump administration to restrict organisations from supporting LGBTQI+ rights, providing gender-affirming care, or any activities promoting diversity, equality and inclusion.

The US has historically provided billions of funding each year to health and humanitarian causes around the globe. So this is a huge blow to health programmes worldwide, and millions of people’s healthcare has been cut off.

Backed by our pro-choice community, MSI’s frontline health providers are working hard to protect access to reproductive care in the most affected communities.
