The Board of Trustees presents its report and the audited consolidated financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2018 under the Charities Act 2011 and the Companies Act 2006, incorporating the Directors’ Report.

In 2018, our 11,000 team members delivered 34.7 million CYPs (couple years of protection, our key metric) across the 37 countries in which we operate, an increase of 3 million on the previous year. We maintained our total income levels at £296 million, and increased our additional contraceptive users to 9.5 million (since the original 2012 Family Planning Summit pledge of 6 million).

We also step-changed our delivery to those least likely to have access to modern contraceptive choice, those living in extreme poverty and adolescents below 20 years. Our impact was excellent: in 2018, 30.2 million women and men were using a method of contraception supplied by MSI. We averted 12.3 million unintended pregnancies, 6.4 million unsafe abortions and 32,000 maternal deaths.
