Tenaw Bawoke joined MSI first as Deputy Country Director for Ethiopia in 2018 before becoming the Country Director for Malawi in 2021.
Tenaw’s leadership career in development and humanitarian sectors started in 2001, first as district health manager with the Ethiopian government and then with various non-governmental organisations. He worked as a manager at Engender Health in Ethiopia, a sexual and reproductive health specialist at Save the Children in Ethiopia, and a Programme Director at International Medical Corps in Ethiopia, Jordan, and the Philippines.
These experiences, matched with his passion for sexual and reproductive health, has enabled Tenaw to successfully lead MSI’s Malawi programme. His engagement with humanitarian and development operations has given him expertise on how to deliver sexual and reproductive health responses in both crisis and stable settings.
