Sanou Gning
Deputy Director for MSI Africa

Sanou joined MSI Reproductive Choices in 2012 as the Senegal Social Marketing Director, before going on to become Operations and Programme Director, Country Director, Sahel Director, and Senior Country Director, overseeing country programmes and regional teams across West, Central, and East Africa.
Since September 2024, she has served as the Director of WISH 2 West and Central Africa (DRC, Niger, Mali, Senegal, Chad and Mauritania), overseeing the strategic, technical, operational and financial management of the project and serving as key liaison with FCDO and WISH Dividend global consortia. In 2026, she also became the Deputy Director for Africa, providing operational leadership for DRC, Senegal, Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, alongside continuing to lead the WISH 2 WACA programme. She brings deep expertise in operational efficiency, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement, paired with a strong track record in donor relations and government partnerships.
Her work is guided by the belief that access to sexual and reproductive health and rights is fundamental to equality and development, she is committed to building strong teams, strengthening national systems, empowering local leadership, and delivering lasting impact for women and girls across Africa.
She holds a Masters’ Degree in Business Administration from Metz University, a Bachelor’s in Foreign Languages, and speaks Spanish, English and French. Prior to joining MSI, Sanou worked as Head of the Commercial Department for a regional insurance company, Amsa Assurances Vie. She has also worked in different management roles for Pan-African banks in Senegal, Ecobank, and United Bank of Africa.
