Dr Jeanne Tessougue became the Country Director of MSI Mali in 2026, leading the programme’s strategy and operations to expand access to high-quality, safe, affordable and client-centred sexual and reproductive healthcare for women and girls.
Dr Tessougue is a medical doctor and public health specialist, bringing over 20 years of leadership experience in global health across West and Central Africa. Before joining MSI, she held senior leadership positions with IntraHealth International, Population Services International (PSI) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), leading national and regional programmes in health systems strengthening, sexual and reproductive health, maternal and newborn health, and health workforce development.
She has extensive experience managing complex, multi-country programmes, building strategic partnerships with governments and donors, and leading organisational transformation in challenging environments. She is recognised for her collaborative leadership, commitment to innovation and passion for improving equitable access to quality healthcare.
Dr Tessougue holds a Doctor of Medicine, a Master of Public Health and a Master’s degree in Community Health.
In 2019, Dr Tessougue was honoured with the prestigious Heroines of Health Award by Women in Global Health during the World Health Assembly, recognising her outstanding leadership and contribution to advancing women’s health.
